Dharbhanga airport is set to be commissioned by end of 2020. The new airport is being constructed as a civil enclave in Darbhanga Airforce Station in Bihar. Airports Authority of India is developing the airport with an investment of ₹ 1,000 million. The runway will be strengthened to handle the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 and a pre-fabricated building is under construction which will serve as a temporary terminal building.
It will have a peak handling capacity of 200 passengers per hour.
